IN 2002, Kate had a nude portrait painted by late artist Lucian Freud, and he told her he used to do tattoos for sailors using ink and a scalpel.

This led to Freud inking two swallows onto Kate. She later said: ‘It’s an original Freud, I wonder how much a collector would pay for that? A few million?’ Lottie had to make do with an ordinary parlour for the three birds tattooed on her torso last year.

She’s since had ‘Not yours’ inked onto her buttock, said to be a message to former boyfriend Alex Mytton.
