MIKE AND ZARA’S LITTLE LOOKALIKE

- SARAH RAINEY

With wind whipping through her ponytail, and a determined look on her face, Mia tindall was the star of the annual horse show at her grandmother Princess Anne’s home Gatcombe Park last weekend.

Clad in characteristically ‘ ungirly’ denim dungarees, she tore across the grass, looking for mischief.

Mia, the only daughter of Princess Anne’s daughter Zara and ex-England rugby captain Mike tindall, has melted even the steeliest of royal hearts with her easy, cheeky, boisterous ways — usually accessorised with an ice- cream sticky chin and apple-pink cheeks.

Earlier this year, the three-year- old was pictured brandishing a polo mallet and squealing with delight as she was chased up and down the sidelines by Prince William, her second cousin, at the Gloucester Festival of Polo.

She managed to make the usually buttoned-up, stiff Prince look positively mushy, as he scooped her up for a massive Prince harry-style cuddle.

this lack of concern for royal dignity is typical of Mia. Who could forget the Queen’s 90th birthday portrait, taken by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz last year, in which she grabbed on to the monarch’s £1,250 Launer handbag and held it gleefully aloft — upstaging even her Majesty herself?

Majesty Magazine’s ingrid Seward says Mia’s charm is all down to her very down-to-earth upbringing. ‘She’s a real country tomboy, tough and energetic, and she’s used to running around doing what she wants. it’s really enchanting.’

But there’s another explanation for her charm and physical ebullience. She’s hit the DNA jackpot, encapsulating the best qualities of both parents. So, Mia has her mother’s tomboyish mischievousness and her father’s love of rough and tumble, plus a dose of determination from both of them. here, we show exactly why Mia is Zara and Mike’s mini-me...
