TOM BRUISE
Star falls short as his stunt turns into Mission Impossible
HE has clung to an aeroplane during take-off, submerged himself in water for six minutes and climbed Dubai’s tallest skyscraper.
But it seems Tom Cruise came a cropper in his latest stunt – as he appeared to injure himself during a shoot for the next Mission Impossible movie.
The Top Gun star, 55, who was filming in London yesterday, winced in pain after slamming into a building while attempting to leap from one roof to another.
The American actor, who often performs his own stunts, was attached to safety wires and, after clambering on to the roof, could be seen limping away and falling to his knees before clutching his legs. Footage on US website TMZ shows Cruise being helped away from the set by stunt professionals.
He is shooting the sixth Mission Impossible film, joining Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson and The Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner.
While the plot has been kept under wraps, Skydance Media boss David Ellison has revealed that Cruise will be performing the biggest stunt sequence of his career for the film. He said previously: ‘What Tom is doing in this movie I believe will top anything that’s come before. It is absolutely unbelievable.’ A spokesman for Cruise could not be reached last night.
