Feltz: I wouldn’t back protest over equal pay at BBC

-

VANESSA Feltz has revealed she would ‘probably not’ have signed a letter by her female colleagues demanding equal pay.

The Radio 2 host, pictured, who earns up to £399,000, has argued the issue is ‘more complicated’ than simple discrimination. She said there are ‘all different reasons’ why individual men and women would be paid unequally, and condemned the ‘gross’ exposure of her salary, in an interview with The Guardian.

Last month, a BBC report revealed twothirds of its top earning celebrities are men. Fellow Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans was paid more than £2.2million, and Match of the Day’s Gary Lineker receives about £1.8million. Stars including Sue Barker, Victoria Derbyshire and Fiona Bruce added their names to an open letter calling for equal pay in the organisation.

But Miss Feltz said: ‘How do you prove two people on the same show are doing an equal job? There are all different reasons why people get paid different amounts.’
