What crisis, George?

-

MEANWHILE in the real world, nothing proclaims the true story of Brexit more loudly than yesterday’s jobs figures. Remember how Remoaner-in- chief George Osborne warned unemployment would soar by 500,000 in the immediate aftermath of a Leave vote?

How, then, does he explain the drop in the jobless rate to its lowest in 42 years, with the number out of work falling by 157,000 since last year’s referendum?

At the same time, the economy continues to grow, wages are picking up, investment is pouring in – and far from shunning us as a pariah state, more EU citizens than ever are working in the UK.

Yes, there will be economic troubles ahead, as the business cycle turns. But these figures tell a story of robust confidence in Britain’s future after Brexit – and they should be celebrated.
