What makes a ‘forever’ home

-

OUR dream home that is so perfect we want to live in it forever is a four-bedroom, detached house in the country worth £458,000 – and just down the road from mother.

We also hanker after a drive, a play room – and somewhere to hang the washing, a survey found.

Other desired options include a large kitchen-breakfast room and a conservatory. With them on the wish list is a location 10½miles from the office and a pub within a mile and a half.

The survey of 2,000 homeowners was carried out by Origin, a door and window maker. Ben Brocklesby, of Origin, said: ‘We wanted to find out more about the concept of the forever home and whether it still existed.’

He said more than three-quarters of Britons still believed in the idea, even though ‘we now live in an average of seven homes throughout our lifetimes’.

Of those polled, a third said they already live in their forever home, and another third are saving for one.
