SHARAPOVA’S WILDCARD SHAM

AS part of the agreement affording wildcard entry to the US Open, Maria Sharapova (left) has agreed to speak to young American players about the tennis anti-doping programme. One question: if none of them have failed a test, or served a ban, why would they need to hear from her? Particularly if all she has to offer is the same mealy-mouthed protestations and excuses explaining her suspension from the game?
