THERE are few family homes where mornings aren’t hectic. But take the stress out of getting a tired teenager out of bed or a little one to brush their teeth with these handy tips: THE week before school starts, wake them up increasing­ly early, so the first day back isn’t such a shock to the system. IF THEY still won’t get up, make their bedtime earlier – even the threat could work wonders! PREPARE everything, from the uniform they’ll wear to the gym kit they’ll need, the night before. AT THE same time, check the weather forecast for the next day, so you can get raincoats and wellies or sun cream ready. FOLLOW the same routine every morning, so little ones learn to do it without having to be asked. IF THEY’RE slow at something, get a timer and challenge them to do it quicker – kids love a challenge. BAN all electronic­s in the morning until they’re fully ready for school. LET them eat muffins or toast for breakfast in the car.
