THE KING OF EDGBASTON

- By LAWRENCE BOOTH

ALASTAIR COOK already possessed the highest Test score at Edgbaston, having ground down India to the tune of 294 in 2011. And his 243 here means he is now fifth on the list too, behind Peter May (285 not out v West Indies in 1957), South Africa’s Graeme Smith (277 in 2003) and Pakistan’s Zaheer Abbas (274 in 1971).
