A wig and spots turn A-list beauty into Elizabeth I

SHE was propelled to sex symbol status four years ago when she played Leonardo DiCaprio’s seductive, blonde wife.

But with a balding head and pockmarked, blotchy face, Margot Robbie looks a far cry from her glamorous self.

The 27-year-old traded her olive complexion for a much paler look and tufts of red hair as she took on the role of Elizabeth I.

The Australian actress, who starred with DiCaprio in The Wolf Of Wall Street, looked unrecognisable as she got into character for her part in the upcoming film Mary Queen Of Scots.

Miss Robbie, who is married to the son of an English estate agent, even appeared to have had a severe, prosthetic nose applied.

The actress will follow in the footsteps of movie stars such as Bette Davis and Dame Judi Dench who both took on the role of the queen during their careers.

In what appears to be a rite of passage for leading ladies, Dame Helen Mirren, Miranda Richardson and Cate Blanchett have also tried their hands at portraying the last Tudor monarch.

Miss Robbie was dressed in a costume of a dark blue, cropped jacket, a corset and a wide, buckled skirt – quite a contrast to the short, tight, pink dresses she wore while starring opposite DiCaprio in 2013.

The actress, who was last year voted Esquire magazine’s sexiest woman alive, appeared on Australian soap Neighbours before going to Hollywood and taking leading roles in The Legend Of Tarzan and Suicide Squad.

Mary Queen of Scots, with Saoirse Ronan in the title role and also starring David, is due to be released late next year.

Miss Robbie is married to British film director Tom Ackerley, 27. They met on the set of war drama Suite Francaise.

In an interview with Vogue last year, Miss Robbie described her husband as ‘the best-looking guy in London’.
