MARKO ARNAUTOVIC
should hang his head in shame after his outrageous elbow on Jack Stephens which resulted in a red card. It was a decision which referee Lee Mason got right after two glaring errors. Mason had totally missed a clear offence by Mario Lemina as he jumped with a leading arm and caught Arnautovic in the face — something which might have led to the Austrian’s retaliatory elbow. Play continued and Mason failed to see the severity of Mark Noble’s studs-led challenge on Lemina. Mason then failed to award a clear penalty for West Ham when Stephens handled an Andre Ayew header on goal, but then punished a minimal push by Pablo Zabaleta. It was technically a foul but not a credible decision given the other offences which Mason missed. Arnautovic will miss the next few matches. Mason should join him.
