Complaints over C4 jihadi drama
CHANNEL 4’s drama about Islamic State could ‘seduce’ jihadist sympathisers who may ‘cross the line’ and turn violent, a terror expert has said.
Anthony Glees, of the University of Buckingham, added that showing The State, a four-part series that began on Sunday – days after the Barcelona attack – was a ‘serious misjudgment’.
Channel 4 said that ‘at no point does it endorse nor encourage others to follow in [the characters’] footsteps’.
Ofcom may investigate after viewers complained.
