Row over Aluko inquiry call
THE players’ union were last night dragged into the FA scandal involving Chelsea star Eni Aluko. PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor called for a fresh independent inquiry into Aluko’s bullying and harassment complaint, involving allegations of racism, against the FA and England women’s manager Mark Sampson. But Kick It Out chairman Lord Ouseley questioned why the players’ union, who represented Aluko during negotiations for an £80,000 payment to keep quiet about her complaint, did not raise concerns at the time. Sampson was cleared by both an internal and independent investigation before Aluko was paid. But Lord Ouseley told
Sportsmail. ‘Since this was revealed by the Daily Mail, Kick It Out and myself have maintained the line of asking for all information to be released so we and the public can form a view on it. ‘It is useful the PFA are asking for a new inquiry, but we have already had one and they must have known then what they know now.’
