A MOTHER
who was spared jail after burgling a pensioner’s house was told by a judge she would have been sent straight to prison if she ‘were a man’.
Terry Remmer, 23, terrified the man who lived in the property, in Washington, Tyne and Wear, when she sneaked in early on August 14 last year.
But despite Remmer having previous convictions, the judge at Newcastle Crown Court, Recorder Mark Lowe QC, handed her a suspended sentence and said she would have been jailed if she were a man, but that he needed to con Remmer: sider the welfare of her child.
