LEONARD BERNSTEIN (1918-1990). The u.S. composer, conductor and pianist, who wrote the music for hit musicals and films including West Side Story and On The Town, wasn’t a fan of critics, saying: ‘I’ve been all over the world and I’ve never seen a statue of a critic.’ RICHARD GREENE (19181985). The Plymouth-born actor (pictured) was one of ITV’s first big stars as the lead in The Adventures Of Robin Hood between 1955 and 1959. According to the British Film Institute, he turned the character into ‘a foppish, Brylcreeme­d matinee idol whose Lincoln greens appeared dry-cleaned’.
