Swingers of Sevenoaks

After sex festival that left neighbouring Tunbridge Wells aghast, a new shock

- By Ben Wilkinson

FIRST they enraged the decent folk of Royal Tunbridge Wells with their flagrant sex festival.

And now swingers are upsetting the upmarket Kent town of Sevenoaks, just 11 miles up the road.

A private club in the Tory-run area is holding weekend orgies, not to mention Naked Fridays and Bootylicious Bank Holidays.

Eureka has been around for some time but growing awareness of it as a favourite haunt of swingers has led to an outcry from locals, who are concerned about the image of the Garden of England. The club – which now has 2,000 members – is on a 23-acre site and is promoted as an ‘adult swingers’ party and nightclub venue’. At a fancy dress party on Saturday the club advertised sexual encounter ‘play rooms’, hot tubs and foam parties.

Residents say they are horrified that part of the local green belt is being used for the nude parties.

Anna Turner- Bee has complained to Sevenoaks council about the club being given a series of temporary events licences without neighbours being told.

She said there had been a history of problems surrounding the nudist club such as noise and increased traffic on narrow roads.

Former parish councillor Paul Blacker, who lives next to Eureka, said: ‘You have people knocking on your door at 8pm, trying to find the club. It’s not in a suitable place and should not have been given a licence.’ Eureka charges £400 a year for a ‘ gold’ membership. The club was granted an entertainments licence in 2012 for an indefinite period but the regulation of sex parties is coming under scrutiny after a woman told police she was gang raped by up to five men at Eureka in June. Two men have been arrested and police are investigating.

Only a week ago a man died at a ‘kinky’ outdoor sex festival held in ancient woodland in Tunbridge Wells. Police said the death of the man in his fifties at Flamefest was not suspicious but the cause of death is still unknown. The festival offered outdoor ‘dungeons’ and dominatrixes.

Eureka owner Mike Davies told The Sunday Times he did not consider his events to be sex parties.

He said he employed security guards to ensure there was no sexual activity in public. He said the club had always attracted swingers and had not much changed since it opened.

A Sevenoaks council spokesman said: ‘ Eureka sun club has a premises licence to allow music and late night refreshments and has planning consent to be used as a naturist club.’
