Horsey cracks in final round to let in US rival
OVERNIGHT leader David Horsey blew the chance of his second Made in Denmark win in three years with a disappointing final round 70 yesterday.
The Englishman suffered a triple bogey on the final hole as American Julian Suri carded a brilliant final round of 64 to win his first European Tour title by four shots. Horsey, who had a two-shot advantage overnight, said: ‘It was a great battle, it’s just a shame I couldn’t put more pressure on him coming down the 18th.’
John Daly, the 51-year-old two-time major winner who was trying to become the oldest winner in European Tour history, finished in a tie for 10th after a closing 71.
Meanwhile, former US Open champion Michelle Wie has pulled out of the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open to have an appendix operation.
