De Boer is on brink of sack
FRANK DE BOER is facing an uphill battle to keep his job as Crystal Palace manager. There is a growing feeling at Selhurst Park that the Dutchman will leave sooner rather than later. De Boer held discussions with club chiefs yesterday after a pointless start to the Premier League season. It remains to be seen whether talks were enough to earn a stay of execution. But at the very least, the former Ajax and Inter Milan boss knows his job is firmly under review. There are understood to be growing tensions with the Eagles board regarding transfers. Sources claim that a first-team contingent are unconvinced by De Boer’s methods and that the dressing room is unsettled. The international break presents an appropriate opportunity to part with De Boer. Palace made Dougie Freedman sporting director last week and the club legend could replace De Boer temporarily. Palace’s next game is a trip to Burnley on September 10.
