APPLE boss Tim Cook has been handed a £70m bonus as he prepares to unveil the next blockbuster iPhone.

The 56-year-old, who has pledged to give much of his wealth to charity, has been granted 560,000 shares in the world’s most valuable publicly listed company.

It was the fourth time in a row Cook has received the maximum award available to him and he has reportedly set aside around £35.5m to cover his tax bill. His overall holdings in the company stand at 901,474 shares, which was worth about £112m yesterday.

Apple is expected to unveil its next handset to huge fanfare next month.

The iPhone 8 is rumoured to include game-changing features such as an ‘edge to edge’ screen, wireless charging and facial recognition. The iPhone 7 costs from £599 but analysts predict its successor could set buyers back £772.
