Champions scramble to grab Barkley, Llorente and Drinkwater

- by Simon Jones

CHELSEA have made a £25million offer for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley. Barkley is out injured until December and out of contract next summer. Selling this window represents Everton’s best chance of a sizeable profit on their academy graduate. The champions are also offering £15m for Swansea striker Fernando Llorente and will make a revised £35m bid for Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater. They have also added Eden Hazard’s brother, Kylian Hazard, 22, from Hungarian side Ujpest for their development squad. Chelsea’s move for Barkley (below) will likely mean Everton keep Nikola Vlasic, 19, when he joins from Hajduk Split rather than loan out the £8m Croat. Everton have had an approach for Cardiff striker Kenneth Zohore rejected.

BOURNEMOUTH striker Joshua King has signed a new four-year deal. ÷ WEST BROM are in advanced talks to sign Paris SaintGermain midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak. The Pole, capped 45 times, joined PSG from Sevilla last year for £34m, but struggled to make an impression. Albion also hope to sign Josef de Souza from Fenerbahce and are keen on Burnley striker Ashley Barnes. ÷ STOKE have signed defender Kevin Wimmer from Tottenham for £18m. The Austria centre half has agreed a five-year deal. Stoke have also revived talks over a £10m move for Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph. Leicester City had also asked about Delph but he is keen to link up with Mark Hughes, who is poised to off-load midfield misfit Giannelli Imbula to Toulouse. Malaga are keen on Stoke’s Bojan Krkic.

RAVEL MORRISON is trying to revive his career in Mexico. He plans to join Atlas FC on loan from Lazio. ÷ FULHAM want Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle after agreeing to sell Sone Aluko to Reading for £7.5m. Leeds have also expressed interest in Gayle despite lining up Hamburg striker PierreMichel Lasogga on loan. NEWCASTLE defender Grant Hanley will leave the Scotland camp ahead of signing for Norwich City for £3.5m pending a medical.
