All Oscars look the same, says 5-time nominee Judi

-

DAMe Judi Dench, 82, confesses she ‘doesn’t know why’ she has never yet won a Best Actress Oscar, despite a fistful of nominations.

The actress, starring for the second time as Queen Victoria in the new film Victoria & Abdul (she also played the monarch in 1997’s Mrs Brown), says: ‘ I won the Best Supporting Actress award for Shakespeare In Love in 1999. It doesn’t irritate me at all that I haven’t won Best Actress, though I don’t know why it escaped me. My Oscar looks exactly the same.’

Dame Judi has been nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award an impressive five times — for Mrs Brown, Iris ( 2001), Mrs Henderson Presents (2005), Notes On A Scandal (2006) and Philomena (2013).
