£35m Oxlade-Chamberlain snubs Chelsea for Liverpool

- By SAMI MOKBEL, DOMINIC KING and SIMON JONES

ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN was last night having a medical at england’s training camp and will join liverpool for £35million today.

Jurgen Klopp has snatched the Arsenal star from under Chelsea’s noses after the Premier league champions agreed their own deal to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain earlier this week. but as Sportsmail revealed yesterday, the 24-year-old

was stalling on a switch to Stamford Bridge as Liverpool prepared to hijack the move.

Chelsea chiefs have been infuriated by Oxlade-Chamberlain’s snub given the amount of work they have put into landing him. It leaves their transfer plans in tatters, with moves for Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley also proving difficult to get over the line.

Chelsea, though, are closing in on a move for Swansea striker Fernando Llorente, who will provide back-up to first- choice striker Alvaro Morata.

Provided Oxlade-Chamberlainn passes his medical he is expectedd to sign a five-year contract. The England forward is set to earnn £120,000 a week at Anfield, which iss £60,000 a week less than Arsenal offered in a new deal.

England manager Gareth Southgate will this afternoon decide whether Oxlade-Chamberlain is in the right frame of mind to be part of his plans for tomorrow’s World Cup clash against Malta.

Liverpool, who retain an interest in Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, could yet make one final offer for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk as they look to end the transfer window with a flourish.

However, Divock Origi looks to be on his way out of Anfield. The Belgium striker is set to join Bundesliga side Wolfsburg on a season-long loan for a £6m fee.

One of the signings of the window could be Swansea’s loan deal for exciting Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich.

Talks between Swansea and Bayern, who paid £30m for Sanches last summer, are at an advanced stage and the Welsh club are confident an agreement is close for the 20-year-old, who had interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco and AC Milan.

The deal owes much to the contacts manager Paul Clement made while an assistant at Bayern, who are understood to be asking for a £7m loan fee. Clement will add Wilfried Bony from Manchester City as a replacement for Llorente, who is talking to Chelsea. An £8m bid for Ashley Barnes at Burnley has been rejected. Chelsea have held further talks with Atletico Madrid over a compromise fee for Diego Costa. Atletico propose to pay around £39m with a further £10m in add-ons. WEST HHAM have asked about Barcelona midfielder fieldmidfielder Andre Gomes shoshould they fail to reresurrect their deal fofor Sporting Lisbon’s bLisbon’s William Carvalho. Gomes, 24, has been struggling ffor game time and iis available on a frfree loan on the babasis he plays 70 per cencent of West Ham’s gamegames. Spurs have also looked aat the player but ththe wages could be too high. West Ham put the blocks on Diafra Sakho’s move to Rennes despite the striker travelling to France for a medical. Crystal Palace then offered £10m for the striker, only for co-chairman David Gold to insist he is staying. WEST BROM have signed PSG midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak on loan. PSG paid £27m for the 27-year-old Poland international a year ago. Albion also signed Kieran Gibbs from Arsenal for £7m and hope to add Eliaquim Mangala

from Manchester City as part of a deal for Jonny Evans.

MANCHESTER CITY defender Jason Denayer has turned down Brighton and Celtic to move to Galatasaray on loan. Midfielder Fabian Delph has also turned down the chance to join STOKE.

CRYSTAL PALACE are ready to offer £ 25m plus a further £ 5m in add- ons to finally land Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho.

EVERTON have made an £8m offer for Nikola Vlasic at Hajduk Split but will face a rush to get his work permit in place by 4pm today.

LEICESTER are discussing a possible deal for Wolves winger Jordan Graham as £16m signing Ahmed Musa is close to joining Hull City on loan. Leicester are also in advanced talks with Demarai Gray over a new contract to fend off Bournemouth and Everton. BURNLEY are signing Huddersfield Town’s Nahki Wells for £ 5m after having an offer for Lorient’s Majeed Waris rejected. WATFORD are discussing a potential deal for Sporting Lisbon left back Marvin Zeegelaar, 27.
