Peanut butter could guard against cancer
OPT for peanut butter, rather than marmalade, on your toast, as it might cut your risk of stomach cancer, say U.S. researchers. They analysed the nut and peanut butter intake of more than half-amillion people, and then continued to monitor their health over 15 years.
They found that those with the highest consumption had the lowest rate of gastric cancer, compared with those who ate no nuts or peanut butter.
Nuts contain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants called polyphenols which might protect against this kind of cancer, say the authors of the study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
