... and her BIG hint that she wanted a larger family
THE news of a third royal baby may have come as a surprise – but a heavy hint dropped by the Duchess of Cambridge seven weeks ago suggested that she wanted another little prince or princess.
During the royal tour of Poland on July 17, Kate was offered a cuddly toy designed to soothe newborns.
Julia Sielicka-Jastrzebska passed the soft toy made by her company to the duchess, telling her that they were made for children younger than George and Charlotte.
With a twinkle in her eye, Kate turned to her husband laughing and declared: ‘We will just have to have more babies!’
And there was another sign for eagle-eyed royal watchers that evening that the 5-year-old duchess may have had a baby on the way.
As she and Prince William attended a garden party in honour of the Queen thrown by the British ambassador, the duchess was handed a glass of wine for the official toast, but appeared to hold it to her lips without taking a sip.
Then, as they visited Germany later in the week, she raised a stein of beer after a boat race – but there were suggestions she had merely pretended to take a drink.
