Douglas duo weather the storm to advance

Douglas Park’s Ian MacDougall and Martin Bell won an epic struggle at Duddingston in fading light and torrential rain to earn a place in the finals of the Daily Mail Foursomes. The scottish pair wrapped up the match at the third extra hole to beat Michael Hymers and ollie Hughes. MacDougall, who sunk a vital putt at the 18th to keep the game alive and take it into overtime said: ‘That’s one game I will never forget. I can’t think of a closer match I’ve had. ‘We were locked on every hole. I don’t know if my nerves can stand much more. I’m pretty much retired. I’m not used to this level of stress.’
