Keeping the public safe
I WOULD like to explain how the Met Police responds to requests for help from the public (Mail). We don’t give anyone a lesser service because they’re English, British or, indeed, any other nationality.
When there’s a serious incident, especially where violence is involved or people are at risk of harm, a police officer will always attend.
For a non-emergency, we need to have a clear understanding of the situation so we can decide how to respond. When someone struggles to communicate with us, for whatever reason, we often send officers to make sure there is not a threat to their safety.
We’re immensely proud of what we do to keep the public safe. CRAIG MACKEY, Deputy Met
Commissioner, London SW1.
