Corbyn’s gift to May
AS Labour vows to vote against the Brexit Bill, Jeremy Corbyn’s betrayal of his core voters is complete. If he thinks his cynical ploy will split the Tories and bring down Theresa May, this paper believes he is also making a grave miscalculation.
Leave aside that 70 per cent of Labour constituencies voted to leave the EU. Polls have shown that even among Remain voters, a substantial majority now wishes to press ahead with pulling out.
Meanwhile, every anti-British sneer from the EU’s chief negotiator, every threat of ‘trench warfare’ by the egregious Lord Mandelson and every embrace between Tony Blair and Jean- Claude Juncker merely strengthens the public’s resolve.
If Tory Remainers know what is good for Britain, Labour’s treachery will redouble their determination to rally to Mrs May.
