Recycling chaos

PEOPLE who put cardboard and paper — which can be recycled — in their dustbin should be fined (Mail).

The problem is different councils have different rules. Rotherham Borough Council takes ordinary waste one week and glass and cans the following week, but not plastic. Garden waste goes in a separate bag. Kirklees Council collects plastic, glass and cans, but not garden waste.

On holiday in Eastleigh, Hants, I found the council collected everything each week in different coloured containers.
