Love Cruise made Katie keep secret for FIVE years
STROLLING hand in hand along the beach, they look like the most carefree of couples.
Dressed in matching fedoras, Hollywood stars Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx were seen playing in the surf as they walked barefoot along the Miami seafront on Monday.
But the love story between the pair is rather more complicated than this casual appearance suggests.
For though this was their first public appearance together, the pair are said to have been secretly dating since 2013. The concealed nature of their relationship is reportedly due to a condition imposed on Miss Holmes by her ex-husband Tom Cruise that banned her from publicly dating for five years after their 2012 divorce.
Reports of a romance between Miss Holmes and Django Unchained star Foxx first began circulating after they were seen dancing onstage together at a charity event in 2013.
Since then they have been spotted together several times, with the pair seen separately boarding the same private jet in Paris in May. Foxx, 49, who worked with Cruise on the 2004 film Collateral, has previously insisted the pair were ‘just friends’.
Miss Holmes, 38, has not commented on her love life since her separation from Cruise, 55, with whom she shares daughter Suri, 11.
But it seems she is finally declaring her romance to the world. According to RadarOnline, the pair have gone to great lengths to hide their relationship due to a clause in Miss Holmes’s divorce settlement. A source said: ‘Katie signed a clause in her quickie divorce settlement that prevents her from embarrassing Tom in various ways, like talking about him ... or publicly dating another man for five years after the divorce.
‘She’s allowed to date, but she cannot do so in a public fashion, and she’s not supposed to let any boyfriend near their daughter, Suri.’
Representatives for Miss Holmes, Cruise and Foxx have been approached for comment.
