An MP of principle!
MILLIONS will profoundly disagree with Jacob Rees- Mogg’s uncompromising opposition to abortion in any circumstances, even in cases of incest or rape.
Indeed, they will include many who have serious qualms about how abortion has come to be seen as a casual alternative to contraception, with 500 terminations in England and Wales every day.
But even among his most severe critics, won’t there be many who feel grudging admiration for an MP who sticks to his principles, no matter how unfashionable or unpopular they may be?
In this post-Blair world of focus groups and spin, such politicians have become extreme rarities. Could this account for Mr Rees-Mogg’s popularity? And shouldn’t other MPs learn from his integrity?
