The EU owes us

-

A DIVORCE involves a deal with both parties. The EU owns huge assets such as its Brussels and Strasbourg HQs and funds held by the European Investment Bank.

When the UK receives its refund, only then will these assets belong 100 per cent to the EU. And after Brexit, the UK will no longer have to contribute to the pensions of retired EU civil servants and MEPs. ALEXANDER YOUNGSON,

Scarborough, N. Yorks. DAVID DAVIS is wrong to agree to the continuation of EHIC after Brexit (Mail), which allows EU citizens in the UK to use the NHS and British expats in EU countries to use local health services.

There are only 1.2 million Britons in the 27 EU countries, which is hardly a strain on health services. However, there are 3.2 million EU citizens in the UK, which puts an unsustainable burden on the NHS.

Each country pays the cost of treating its citizens, which works for EU countries because they enforce the arrangement, but not for the UK.

Those tasked with enforcement here hand out free healthcare to anyone from the EU and, for that matter, anywhere in the world.
