POLISH FASHION CHAIN OPENS IN OLD BHS FLAGSHIP STORE

-

BHS’s old Oxford Street store has been taken over by an up-andcoming Polish fashion chain.

Reserved has set up shop in the flagship high street shop as it seeks to break into the UK.

The Oxford Street store was one of the first casualties of the BHS scandal, which saw administrators call time on the 88-year retail chain last April.

It’s collapse left the firm with a £571m black hole in its pension fund and left 20,000 staff without jobs and, of the 160 shops that were shut down after its demise, 60pc still remain empty.

But now Reserved is seeking to woo shoppers into the store once again. The brand is owned by LPP, one of the fastest-growing clothing companies in Europe.

It was established in Gdansk in 1991 and has transformed itself from a small local store into a business which employs more than 25,000 people.

Its brands – which include Cropp, House, Mohito and Sinsay – are already present in 19 countries but the firm has yet to make its mark in the UK. To beef up its debut Reserved has roped in Kate Moss as the face of its collection.

Its clothing is geared at fashionable professionals aged 20-35 and has prices similar to H&M.

Marek Piechocki, the company’s founder and chief executive, said: ‘London is an iconic fashion capital and a global city and is the perfect stage on which to introduce Reserved and LPP to the international shopping community.’
