Litter bugged

-

I AM surprised that some councils want to fine people for putting too much rubbish in their bins (Mail).

I live in Birmingham where there has been industrial action by the bin men for the past few weeks. We used to have a weekly bin collection with fortnightly recycling, but now we never know when the lorry is coming, so we have to leave our rubbish out all the time.

We sort it into general household waste, with plastic, glass and tins in one recycling bin, papers in another and a separate bin for garden waste (which costs an extra £35 a year).

But when the dustcart arrived for the first time in three weeks, it was not manned by the usual crew and everything was thrown into the back of the lorry.
