Patients’ penalty

-

CENTRAL Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust is perfectly entitled to allow travellers to camp in its car park free of charge (Mail).

But surely it can only do so lawfully if it extends the same privilege to other patients and their families.

Instead of focusing on this one case, isn’t the real issue that patients and their visitors, burdened with illness and its consequences, are subject to a financial penalty for being unfortunate enough to need to use hospital car parks in the first place. COLIN MACDONALD,

Nottingham.
