£140m windfall for the man dubbed Britain’s best – and wackiest – boss

-

THE founder of comparison website Money is set for a £140m windfall after agreeing to sell it to the owner of Zoopla.

Chris Morling, who has been dubbed Britain’s best boss, set up Money in 2008 and gives staff perks such as free beer and holidays.

The 47-year-old ( pictured) yesterday agreed to sell parent company Dot Zinc to Zoopla owner ZPG for an initial fee of £80m. A further £60m could be paid in future if certain targets are hit.

Morling, who is married with three children, will continue to run the firm from its HQ in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.

Its offices are in a castle that was renovated by celebrity designer Laurence LlewelynBowen, and features a gym, Star Wars-themed cinema and a meeting room that looks like an ice cave.

The Money website attracts more than 2m visits per month and generated revenues of £24.7m last year.

ZPG, whose brands include uSwitch, Prime Location and Hometrack, is 30pc-owned by the Daily Mail’s parent company, DMG Media.
