It’S a case of younger brother following older brother in the Daily mail Schools trophy. marcus Smith’ s startling progression at Brighton College last season fast-tracked him into eddie Jones’s training squad for this autumn’s england internationals.
the 18- year- o l d has now moved to harlequins, making his Premiership debut last Saturday, leaving the way open for younger brother Luc to fill the no 10 spot at the school.
‘Luc is a very similar player, is very skilful and loves to attack,’ said nick Buoy, Brighton College’s director of rugby. the younger Smith, who played alongside his brother last season, is expected to start tomorrow against Cranleigh. Brighton will be looking to improve on their eighth place in last season’s trophy, the competition run by schoolsrugby. com which is a showcase for around 100 teams over the autumn term.
this season promises to be another enthralling competition, with Wellington College the team to stop, having won the last three. they host Dulwich tomorrow.
Sedbergh and Kirkham are the likeliest northern challengers while in the midlands, Rugby are an emerging force. millfield will be hard to beat in the South West.
