Macca’s new muse

SIR PAUL McCartney, 75, has fallen under the spell of Charlotte Gainsbourg, chanteuse daughter of French songwriter Serge and Jane Birkin.

Ms Gainsbourg, 46, was the muse for Songbird In A Cage, a track penned by Macca for her new album.

‘We had a very nice lunch,’ she recalls. ‘ I couldn’t believe that I was actually sitting next to him.

‘I told him that if he ever had a song for me it would be a dream come true.

‘A few weeks later he sent this track.’
