Expulsions from school jump 300%

THE number of pupils being expelled has risen by more than 300 per cent in some areas, it has been revealed.

There was a 12 per cent increase in expulsions in England from September 2016 to June 2017, compared to the previous academic year.

The greatest increase was in Slough, Berkshire, where 22 pupils were expelled – up from five, The Times Educational Supplement found.

Education experts have blamed the pressure of Ofsted inspections, poor parenting, lacklustre teaching and funding cuts for the growing problems.
