THEY’VE been pitted against each other for numerous awards (and a few roles) throughout their glittering careers.
But golden girls Dame Helen Mirren, Emma Thompson, Dame Kristin Scott Thomas and Nicole Kidman were the best of friends at a Toronto Film Festival party. They are among the most well-respected in the industry with four Oscars and several nominations between them. Dame Helen won best actress for her performance in The Queen in 2007, while Miss Thompson, 58, took best adapted screenplay for Sense and Sensibility in 1996, and best actress for Howard’s End in 1993. Miss Kidman, 50, won best actress for The Hours in 200 . Dame Kristin, 57, missed out on best actress in 1997 for her role in the English Patient. Dame Helen, 72, is promoting her new film, The Leisure Seeker, about an elderly couple who take a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
