Pontiff gets a shiner in popemobile

POPE Francis suffered a black eye and a cut to his face when he bumped his head while riding in the popemobile yesterday.

It happened when the 80-yearold’s vehicle braked suddenly during a procession in Cartagena, Colombia. The pontiff, pictured, was helped from the car with a bruise on his cheek and a dressing on his eyebrow on his last day in the country yesterday.

A Vatican spokesman said: ‘The pope is all right. Ice was put on it and he was treated.’
