Jo’s still set for Singapore

JO KONTA’S hopes of making her debut in the elite eight-woman field for the season-ending WTA Championships have survived the US Open relatively unscathed, despite her defeat in the first round. The event takes place in late October in Singapore and Konta (left) is in seventh place on 3,656 points this year, 780 points clear of France’s Kristina Mladenovic in ninth. Providing Konta does reasonably well in the forthcoming swing of Asian events, she should make the top eight.
