My empty nest the second time around
AS AN empty nester (Mail), I went through the sadness of my children leaving home and then years later the emptiness when you are no longer needed to take the grandchildren to sports practice or dancing classes. But the truth is that if the youngsters feel able to go to university or take a job away from home, it means you have done a good job in making them independent and confident. It’s great for them, but still a bit sad for us.
