FURTHER to memories of Goodge Street transit camp (Peterborough), I was there in 1952. We left for the airport at 4am after a bacon and egg breakfast and flew to Brindisi, Italy — where we had another bacon and egg breakfast. From there we went to El Adem base in Libya, where we had bacon and eggs. Then on to Khartoum, Sudan, where we had a curry so hot we could hardly eat it. Finally, we then flew to Nairobi where, yes, we were served — bacon and eggs! D. Hughes, Stourbridge, W. Mids.
