Boy of 13’s top maths degree
A BOY has earned a firstclass degree in maths at the age of just 13.
Wang Pok Lo, pictured, studied in his free time for the Open University course.
Now he is completing a parttime master’s in statistics with medical applications at Sheffield University – fitting it in around his schoolwork.
The pupil, who attends school in South Queensferry near Edinburgh, moved to Britain from Hong Kong with his family in 2006. He said: ‘I do enjoy doing maths but it is getting very challenging.
‘It has started to get a lot more difficult as it has become more about concepts which are a lot more abstract and it’s mostly logic and reasoning.’
His teacher at Queensferry High School, Cara Prot, said: ‘ His natural flair for maths is inspiring and we have thoroughly enjoyed supporting him throughout his studies.’
