Police cop out
THE Essex police excuse that they were ‘saturated by their workload’ and couldn’t arrest thieves in the act of stealing £26,000 of garden furniture from a warehouse is astonishing.
With the CCTV and other evidence available, this would have been a good clear-up for their books.
Their follow- up remark about prioritising incidents where there is an immediate risk of harm to the public beggars belief.
If that is the case, the Hatton Garden heist would not have been followed up if it had occurred in Essex. And what would they do if a high-profile footballer is burgled?
