I AM surprised by the reader who claims his Fiesta can travel 400 miles carrying four people on a single tank of fuel without stopping (Letters).

He must have remarkable acquaintances if he can travel this far without stopping for even a halfanhour break, which would be sufficient to recharge an electric car.

But he’s right; the ability to recharge electric cars quickly will be crucial to their success and at present only Tesla have set up the necessary infrastructure.
