AN OBSESSIVE Eddie Redmayne fan stalked him and harassed his family for five years.

German translator Gaby Stieger, 49, bombarded the actor with love letters and spied on him as he undressed at his home in Southwark, south London.

Camberwell Green magistrates’ court heard Redmayne contacted police after the mother of two approached him while he was holding his baby daughter.

In a victim impact statement, the 35-year- old said his family had been left feeling ‘distressed, unsafe and deeply unsettled’.

Stieger, whose teenage daughters live in Germany, met Red-

mayne, after seeing him on stage at the Donmar Warehouse in Covent Garden in 2012. She waited by the theatre stairs then gave him a book.

The following year she visited the set while he was filming The Theory Of Everything.

Prosecutor Sara Ashkboos told the court: ‘She asked for a photo and approached his driver and offered him cake so he would get the actor to sign a birthday card for her daughter.’

Steiger also appeared at an Eton carol service in 2013, which alumnus Redmayne attended with his wife Hannah. Miss Ashkboos added: ‘The complainant and his wife felt very uncomfortable and left immediately.’ The translator began walking at a park that overlooks the couple’s flat. In May 2014 she managed to give Redmayne a note that included her number. In one of her letters Stieger wrote: ‘I know things about you.’

After taking legal advice, the actor approached her in 2015 with a letter asking her to stop following him. But he later spotted her at a premiere. Last month Stieger approached him and his daughter outside his house, and tried to touch him.

Stieger, of Colindale, North London, pleaded guilty to stalking the actor between October 2013 and August 2017. She is due to be sentenced today.
