I swapped roads for ovens ...and now I’m cleaning up
Cleaning is big business, and a franchise can help start your own even if you do not have experience.
Owen Rowlands began his ovencleaning business with franchise Ovenclean in 2012.
He says: ‘after 15 years in highway construction and maintenance, i was given notice of possible redundancy, and i didn’t want to start again in the same industry.’
Unsure what to do next, he spotted an ad for Ovenclean. Owen, 37, says: ‘i attended a franchise open day and one of the existing franchisees told me how much of a success he had made of his business.’
Owen, now the franchisee for Buntingford and Welwyn garden City, Hertfordshire, adds: ‘Demand for my services has been high, and i have invested in a second territory, The Ovenclean team gave me all the help and tools i needed to make my own success.’
Ovenclean recruiter Kathryn Painter says: ‘Full training and support is provided, but you should not be afraid of hard work, and be willing to follow our business model, friendly and take pride in your work.’ The franchise costs £14,995.
Former teacher Susan Davies is now the South Wales and West franchisee for Techclean, with a team of three providing regular hygiene services for office equipment, including laptops, PCs, printers, photocopiers and phones.
Susan says: ‘Office hygiene has shot up most companies’ list of priorities to try to reduce losses through workplace sickness.
‘Our clients include the national library of Wales, eDF energy and several call centres. it’s very satisfying to go into an office and in a just few hours make a big difference to their working environment.’
nigel Toplis, managing director of Techclean, says: ‘a Techclean franchise could be a standalone business or an add-on for business services companies. We look for good communicators with an aptitude for sales and marketing.’ The franchise costs £19,500. Ovenclean, 0800 988 5434; Techclean, 01530 513300
