Corbyn’s pal Abbott uses the N-word on live breakfast TV
DIANE Abbott used the ‘N-word’ on breakfast television yesterday while describing the racist and sexist abuse she received online.
The shadow home secretary told how she had been called a ‘n***** b****’ on Twitter during an appearance on ITV’s Good Morning Britain.
Show hosts apologised for the ‘upsetting’ comments and appeared to reuke the politician. Miss Abbott, speaking before a Commons review on intimidation of election candidates, said she had also been physically threatened.
‘The key Jeremy Corbyn ally said: ‘It was really quite frightening.
‘And when I say abuse it’s not people saying “I disagree with you about nationalising the railways”, it’s people calling you a “n***** b****”, it’s people threatening acid attacks, it’s rape, it’s death threats. It’s upsetting for me but also very upsetting for my staff.’
Presenter Susanna Reid said: ‘People listening to those abusive terms will also be upset by them. We can’t broadcast them at this time in the morning.’
Miss Abbott is said to have received nearly half of the 25,000 abusive tweets sent to female MPs in the six weeks before election day.
