Becker’s wife vows: 'I will fight to save my marriage'

-

Boris Becker’s wife Lilly has spoken for the first time about the marriage difficulties they’ve been going through since he was declared bankrupt in the summer after blowing his £100 million fortune.

While the three-times Wimbledon champ has endured an annus horribilis, he will be reassured that she is publicly standing by her man.

‘ Listen, of course this is a challenging period. it is hard and difficult. And yes, i really had the fright of my life,’ the 41-year- old Dutch model tells a magazine in her native Holland.

‘But we have promised to be true to each other, in good times and in bad. i am not about to just give that up. We must fight for each other, for our family.

‘i don’t want [our seven-year-old son] Amadeus to grow up in a broken family. i will fight for that.’

Boris, 49, confronted speculation that he and second wife Lilly were facing marital problems by taking to social media in June.

Although the couple were not pictured together for several weeks, he posted a picture of her on her birthday with the caption: ‘Through thick and thin.’

Earlier in the year Lilly broke down in tears on German TV after Boris failed to leave her a video message following her gruelling four-week trek through Namibia.

‘He’s been mean to me for a long time,’ she said.

After he was declared bankrupt Lilly went to ibiza with a girlfriend without Boris, who was in hospital

in Switzerland recuperating from surgery on his ankle. While things looked up when he later joined her, on crutches, neither has officially commented on their future — until now.

This isn’t the first time Boris, who has four children by three different women, has struggled with matters of the heart.

His first marriage to U.S. designer Barbara Feltus ended in 2001 following an extra-marital romp with Russian model Angela Ermokova on the staircase at Nobu in Mayfair. It resulted in a paternity suit over his daughter Anna, now 17, and a pay-off costing the sportsman £2 million.

But his divorce from Barbara cost him up to £11 million, plus the main marital home in Miami and £2 million in legal fees, with undisclosed sums to support their children, Noah, 23, and Elias, 18.
